Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
