Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
