Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
